  1. Think of something you or she might use the program for and walk her through it.  There are a billion things to learn in a program like that so for now show her the basics and then after she has the hang of it you can show her some of the more advanced type stuff.

  2. Too difficult to do here. Go to the bookstore and buy the how to book. Check out the dummies books and ask which is best. If can't afford, go to the library. They have all of those as well and it gives many examples as well as step by step instruction! Good luck.

  3. There are some great instructional books, and they usually have activities to try out. If you decide to do it yourself though, I would concentrate on things your mom might actually use the programs for (Balancing her budget perhaps) and take her step by step through it.

  4. In my opinion the best way to teach is to show someone and then let them repeat it over and over again.  The more they do the more they will remember.

I run an Excel Video Tutorial website that allows people to do exactly this - they watch the video then download the Excel file and then watch the video again while doing it themselves.

I set the site up because not everyone can afford or is able (or wants to) attend by public courses.  Have a look at the site at www.the-tutorial-library.com and a get your mum to sign up to the free masterclass and see how she gets on.

My oldest customer is 75 and she loves it.
