Question:

Teaching Preschool for Private School - teacher advice!?

I teach high school art and I'm certified to teach all level. My husband is probably going to get a job at a nice private school as a band director and there is a pre-K opening, he'd like to see if I can get it. I LOVE young children and would actually prefer to teach them instead of high school. Is there something I should know about teaching pre-school.. if I haven't had much lower level training besides a few weeks student teaching and about 5 college courses, could I survive? I have two kids under 6 so I am not totally unaware of that age level. I'm a big researcher and I'd do my homework.. what do you think?

  1. Go for it I love pre schoolers they are so rewarding.

  2. Of course you would survive, it is one of the hardest but most rewarding areas of teaching. To encourage a child to develop and watch the dawning realisation of the child as they achieve and reach their potential is fantastic. Go for it, research and learn about child development and you will love every minute of it

  3. I can't answer your question.  But I can encourage you to give it a try.  As you know, children are so impressionable at that age and are just a sponge.  My daughter thinks her pre-school teacher is the best!  She has to make sure that Donna would like everything she does or even wears.  If you have the patience, I think it would be very rewarding.
