how many years does it take to become a psychologist? and what are good universities/colleges that are known for their education majors in California? Same for psychology.

  1. You need a PhD, in America, to legally be considered a psychologist. That's somewhere between 7-12+ years of school - depending on how long it takes you, personally, per degree, and whether or not you get a Masters.


  2. A Bachelors and a Masters degree is required.  You would start clinical hours in the midst of those.  In order to be able to write scripts, you have to get a PhD.  Depending of whether you do a traditional education plan or accelerated education the time it takes will vary.
