Question:

Teaching Textbooks and Saxon question?

I was wondering if I should start with Saxon Advanced mathematics and then go on to Teaching Textbooks pre-calculus course?

Or how else could I do it?

Advanced Math and then the Saxon Calculus course?

Thanks.

  1. If your goal is to ultimately do Saxon Calculus, then the best preparation for that is Saxon Advanced Math, that will cover everything you need to start in Calculus.

I prefer the method in Teaching Textbooks, but Saxon does go further.

  2. I'd suggest sticking with one curriculum or the other - the two have completely different teaching methods.  They cover approximately the same sort of material, but it's presented in totally different ways.

Basically, if you get along well with Saxon, you'll likely hate Teaching Textbooks, and vice versa.  Both curriculum publishers carry a full line of high school math - I'd choose one based on which approach makes the most sense to you and stick with it all the way through.

    JMHO!
