For teaching yourself a subject, do you think it's best to learn from a textbook and answers, on the internet, from watching tv, from reading other books, or from study guides?

  1. Ask your teachers to recommend some textbooks to help you narrow your choices.  Then,go to the library and look around in the section of the subject you want to learn. You will have to get a few books. Start reading them and doing the exercises. As a reference, I recommend the Schaum's Outline series of books. They are inexpensive, have solutions and have different authors for different subjects.

  2. let me tell u a true story of mine! since i was small, i studied in english primary n high school! i nvr went to chinese school before(by the way, im chinese) ! nau im a daycare teacher in a centre for the chinese schools' students! so as a daycare teacher, we must speak mandarin(chinese) in the centre to social n comunicate with the students! n i can speak mandarin! you know whr i learn it most? from the tv! i watched chinese movies a lot! 2ndly, i learnt chinese from socialism from my friends around me! i can speak n listen chinese but i cant read or write chinese! but at least i win most of my english school friends (as none of them can speak chinese)! but i still learning to write n read chinese words! like my mother used to said, "as a human being , we must learn everything around us as long as we r still living in this world!"

  3. All of the above!  As a middle school teacher, I have found that in order to get the students involved in the learning process, I must find and locate many different styles of providing the lesson.  I use the textbook, other resource books, internet (online quizzes with games, bells and whistles), documentary shows, study guides, and people who come with personal experiences.

  4. combine those techniques and you will get a good result. it is called the ecclectic way of learning because information learned doesn't come only in a single medium.
