Hello,

My kids have always been homeschooled and now that we are beginning high school aged curriculum next fall my eldest is very interested in studying Philosophy. We are not looking for a Christian based course but a curriculum that is secular based.

If anyone has any good suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

  1. This  looks like it would give your child enough to start an independent study.

This is free but requires you to register.

Right click and zoom to make video screen size.  It makes it easier to watch .

Pick something you like from there and either get the MP3s, or find them on eBay or at your library. I've used the Argumentation, Biology, and US History lectures. They're awesome.

  3. Well, I don't know of any schools or courses in high school/homeschool program that offer Philosophy other than college classes. I could be wrong though.

But there's nothing wrong with making it a course with your family.

if you want some books on philosophy, here's a few of the ones I've read and recommend.

This is the book I recommend most! It's the "The Oxford Companion to Philosophy". It's one of the best books I've read on Philosophy. It gives a a little of what most of the famous Philosophers thought about certain subjects, and how they came to those conclusions. It's great as a reference on so many subjects!

The "Elements of moral Philosophy" was interesting.

Another is "Core Questions in Philosophy"
