  1. 2 year olds can count.

Try soemthing like a pattern or shape sorting, puzzles and drawing . Those are math oriented.

  2. Two-year-old math is not the same as what you think of as "math".  For two-year-olds, it is appropriate "math" to work on skills such as sorting, classifying, measuring, comparing, and getting the idea of one-to-one correspondence.  Yes, some two year olds are able to count rote (say the numbers outloud in relative order), but are not yet able to decode numbers (know that a number word matches with a number symbol) or understand one-to-one correspondence (knowing that a number name means that particular number of items).  Math for two year olds includes pre-math skills such as learning to classify and sort objects.  Comparing sizes of items (small, medium, large), and being able to put things in order from largest to smallest (such as stacking cups).  Older twos can work on number recognition by using a calendar ("Look at today.  Today is number 3.  It is the third day of October.").  Sorting/classifying is probably one of the easiest, so gather two or three different items to have the children put into bowls to separate.

  3. u can cut out shapes out of sponges and have them dip it into paint...this way they will learn their shapes and you can teach them to try to count the sides

  4. I think a 2 year old should not be in school they should be playing not studying. And why are there Parents like that ?

  5. http://www.dinosaurmusic.com.au/1234%20l...

  6. then teach them how to count their fingers and toes- at least teach them how to count to five. have them play catch and every time the ball is caught, the catcher has to say a number (eg- the thrower says "1", the catcher- "2". the catcher throws the ball back...)

  7. Use simple objects, like rocks, crayons, etc.

(Believe me it's hard. My sister always wrote her numbers backwards, almost dyslexic. But she grew out of it.)

  8. Sing songs that count to five or from 5 to none.

5 Little Spreckled Frogs, 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Count the children at circle time, count their shoes, shirts, pants, people wearing pink, blue etc. Count anything.

Flashcards with numeral and matching items, read short counting books aloud, have them sit on a number.

2 year olds are cake with songs.

  9. Get some healthy snacks, or some cool toys, and teach them how to count them...start with easy problems like 1,2,3 stopping to make sure they take it all in.  Then when they get it right, let them have the snack. Once they get up to about 10, teach them subtraction by eating the snacks. They will soon learn that taking 1 snack away from 2 is 1, cuz they will know how to count!

  10. Teach the first few numbers like 1,2,3 and then have something like apples or blocks, and say "Here's one block. How many blocks are there?" And when they master that, move onto two and three. Then take away a block and say, "Now how many blocks are there?" Just easy stuff like that. They'll love it if you make it silly, like make up a story about why the block went away.

  11. There is more to math than counting, you can teach them shapes, or patteren recongition, or Number recongition, there are plenty of ways to teach these, think out side the box. :)

  12. There is more to it than just counting. I have been teaching for sixteen years try sorting things by color or shape or matching things i.e. socks to shoes. These things don't sound like math but for a preschooler it is. Once you start with the counting keep it simple try how many feet do you have how many eyes, ears sisters , brothers etc... Just because they are not counting to 10 right away does not mean they are not learning math.

  13. you could play duck, duck, goose with them but instead of saying duck you could count the people and when you wanna say goose just say numbers, like that other chick said dude think outside of the box

  14. 2 year olds can count.  mine can count to 12, though not always consistently.
