Question:

Teaching at a community college question?

I had an interview and I was asked this question:

What would you do if, in your efforts to cover the course curriculum, students complained to you that you were covering too much material too quickly?

What would you answer if you were in my position? Any suggestions?

  1. I would probably say that if the students felt the material was covered too quickly, I would give them plenty of extra resources and encourage them to email me/come to office hours, if they feel they need extra assistance. If the problem was becoming more and more of an issue, I would also offer a tutoring session or online chat period.....

I would also insist, however, that the students do need to be reminded that the curriculum was pre-approved by the college and that you are required to cover it.....
