Teaching in Mexico?

Hey I'm interested in teaching English in Mexico and I plan to get my TEFL online once I get there. The only thing is, all of the programs I see involve paying for both the course and then board, but I want to be living on my own. Does anyone have any information about this?

  1. Are you saying that you're going to Mexico to take a course on teaching English? I used to teach English in Mexico, and if I'm reading you correctly, it's the first I've heard of it.

In any case, I would contact the schools directly. Most should also be able to offer a price for the course only, even if it doesn't say it in their materials or Web site.

  2. Dont know too many details but please consider your immigration status - FM3 card is impossible to get !

Link over to Charlie at the top of the page and ask her. Shes teaching some local children and will be the right one to talk to about this.

  3. Teach privately. There are tons of rich people looking for native speakers to work with them and their kids.

I heard that in Mexico City, you can really make some good money.

Also, you can work with groups of like 5 or 6 and charge each person like 100 pesos a week, 4 hours a week.. 600 pesos. Multiply that times 8 and your making close to 5000 pesos a week.

The schools are a rip off. The lower level schools will try to pay you 35 pesos an hour, 50 if you're lucky. If you do well, you'll take home 1500 pesos a week. But why do that when you can assemble your own groups?

Most of the English teachers are Mexicans that have RECENTLY learned English, so you have a decided advantage in that area. All you have to do is meet one rich person and you're home free.

And that's actually easy to do. Just sit in a coffee shop and start talking to somebody that speaks a little English. Eventually, somebody will be listening and they will come up to you and ask you if you teach English.

  4. Mexico is the land of the free! you can do anything you want here the only thing you have to do is have a few "pesos" and you will be just fine.

Have fun and if you need any help you can contact me. I'm an english teacher and native teachers are allways welcome. Hehehe

  5. sorry no info
