I have to do a lesson for a teaching interview, which is turning fractions into decimals.

I need ideas to teach this that will knock their socks off...please help!

Is there another way to turn the fractions into decimals besides making the 3/4 into a division sign.... 3 divided by 4?

  1. Shouldn't you know this.....your a TEACHER!!!!

  2. turnign things into mulitples of 100

    usng  equivalent fromactions

    i.e 3/4= 75/100 = 0.75

so your  warmup would be a equivalent fractions exercise.

i would also use a visual  using a hundredds grid ot a thousands grid. or those 10 blocks

get them with an application hook at the beginnign and have them answer it by the end

maybe use whiteboards for students  to write their answers and so that you can see theri answers when they hold them up  and you can assess instantly what they know,
