Question:

Teaching job interview...Need urgent response?

I have been teaching 6 years. This past year I worked in a new district and the principal gave me the option of getting fired or resigning. The reason I was given was very vague. And just what I suspected happened...another teacher's wife got my job.

Anyway, I took the resignation to save my career. Now I got called for an interview in another district and it's tomorrow. I know they are going to ask why I left. What am I supposed to say? How much should I tell them? I know I can't talk down about anyone but how can I word it just right so that it comes out positive? Has anyone been in this situation? Thanks!

  1. I am in a similar situation right now.  I was at my former district for 10 years.  In PA at least, you need only 2 consecutive "unsatisfactories" to be dimissed/terminated.
Fighting it could have taken a couple years, and even IF you won, your working conditions would have been miserable.  You made the right choice by NOT fighting it.
    Good luck to you.
