I am 16 and decided that I want to be a teacher. I want to go to college of the Ozarks in Branson however I hear that if I go down there that I will not be certified in Wisconsin to teach. I wanted to go out of state for college what other options do I have, Is there a process in which if I go down there Can get certified here?

  1. You have to take the NTE nand then a state test to be certified in that state. Or. like someone said, you can take the PRAXIS.

  2. Most states have reciprocity agreements and if you are certified in one state, you can use that to be certified in another state.

  3. You do not have to go to college in the same state you want to become certified in. For example, you can go to college in NJ, but take the PRAXIS exams and fulfill other certification requirements for the state you want to teach in.   Check here for WI certification requirements: http://dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/licguide.html

Also, if you teach in a private school most states do not require those teachers to be certified or have a teaching degree.

    Good luck.

  4. Why don't you just move and go to college in Stevens Point, Wisconsin--the college is called University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and it is considered one of the best teacher colleges around.  It's in a small town of 32,000 and it is super safe and low on crime.  They have a high hire rate too, and you would love it there.  The town was on the top five places in the united states to live at one time and it's still great.
