Question:

Teaching my Cockatiel to sing...?

I'm going to try to teach my cockatiel to sing by playing a tune on the piano and seeing if i can get him to mimic it....i was wondering what octave i shoud play in that he can match..or does it not matter?

  1. It doesn't necessarily matter, but 'tiels do seem to prefer higher notes, and I've heard a lot of sources say that 'tiels are more likely to imitate a woman's voice than a man's. My cockatiels showed no interest in my whistling unless it was fairly high. So while a cockatiel could probably imitate most songs, I'm thinking you'll have better luck if you choose songs that have more high notes in them.


  2. it doesnt matter. it can take years for a tiel to mimic something.. IF they mimic anything at all.
