Teaching young children & teenagers about the environment.....?

I would love to get involved with teaching children how to look after our environment. Specifically lakes, rivers and angling aspects and all it entails. I live in England and wonder if there are any agencies that would be interested in funding a project like this?

  1. I am in the States, but there are probably similar programs in your country.  We have something called Project Wild(first website below) Project Learning tree( second website below) , Project wetlands (third site)and others.  These are free or low cost trainings, with books of hands on activities .    Each activity has been field tested with students. Learning strands are identified( language arts, math, science etc.) You may be able to order the books at a low price.  Or look on e bay.  Do you have a department of natural resources or wildlife in your government?

The fourth site below is for EEK  and electronic magazine for kids about natural resources.   We also use our departments for national parks, national forests, bureau of land management, agriculture etc. to get information, materials, and speakers.

If you can't find a similar organization in England, get what you can from USA and use the information as a jumping point to start your own program.  Good luck!
