Question:

Teal and lime green wedding???

I'm getting married July 4, 2009 and suddenly changed my wedding colors from teal and yellow to teal and lime green. The bridesmaid dresses will be teal (perhaps a thin lime green sash) and my dress will be ivory. However, I have NO idea what to do for flowers and the guys tuxedos. My fiance will be wearing a black tux with ivory underneath, but not sure about his groomsmen for the vest/tie. Any suggestions? Also, decorating ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

  1. That sounds absolutely gorgeous! I'd go with teal for the grommsmens tuxes, and use the lime green, which tends to be a "powerful" color, as an accent in your flowers (ribbon, bright green leaves, etc.). I was planning on using turquoise, cobalt blue, and lime green, but I changed my wedding date to winter, so I'm going with a warmer, more muted olive green and granny-smith-apple green. I definitely like the lime green better than the yellow with teal.

But remember, everything doesn't have to match exactly! You could even add a fuschia or purple accent in your flowers, which would really look great with teal and lime green. That gives you a little more room to play with flowers. Otherwise, you're pretty limited because there are no naturally teal flowers, and lime green really only comes in leaves and limes. (duh. lol) I'd go with mostly white/ivory flowers (roses, carnations) with lime green leaves and mums or hydrangeas, and a few tiny bright fuschia or purple flowers, with the stems wrapped in teal satin ribbon.

For your decorations, keep it super-simple with classic clean ivory linens. Add lime green trays (get cheap trays from a dollar store and spray paint them!) with ivory pillar candles, tied with teal ribbon, small bowls of tinted water with floating flower heads or candles, an you're done. If you want to "fancy" it up a bit, lay a runner of wide teal satin ribbon down the tables underneath the lime green trays. Also make sure that the candle arrangements on the trays are not all identical. It's much more interesting when each is a little different.

  2. Thats a very strange wedding combo.

Regardless, take a swatch of fabric from the bridesmaid dresses and take it to the florist. They can match flowers. Have the groomsmen wear teal vests/ties. Again, take the swatch to the tux place and they can help you.

  3. It's doable!!!!! You just need to add one contrast color. Since your bridesmaids are wearing teal then choose pink and then ground the colors with black and ivory.

Your bouquet: Mostly green cymbidium orchids with a few pink mini cala lilies (or another pink flower you like). Wrap the whole thing is pink ribbon (i love french braid) and put black pearl pins on it.

Bridesmaids bouquets: keep it simple and reverse the colors for them.

His bout will be simply beautiful with the cymbidium orchid or you could combine it with a tiny pink cala lily and have the groomsmen just wear the pink cala lily.

Alternatively you could use green hydrangea instead of the orchids.

    Good luck!

  4. I like the idea for the dresses, cute! I would go with white roses for the flowers some kinds look more ivory than white with some greenery around them to make them pop, you can wrap the stems in the teal color ribbons and maybe ask the florist to incorporate your color ribbons throughout the bouquets. I've seen them do it, it looks really pretty! As for the guys: black tuxedos with ivory shirts, teal ties, and just black vests, you can add the lime green in subtly with the boutineers  (the guys will thank you, believe me I had hot pink and black in my wedding!) lol! One word for decorations "Cheap". Get fake flowers from Hobby Lobby (good selection and look nice) and remember elegant doesn't have to mean cluttered. Nice fake flowers, some tulle, candlelabras and candles can make a wedding look elegant, but not flashy, it just depends on what you like. Good luck!

  5. I love the teal and lime green idea. Its different and beautiful.

I think the guys in lime green vest would be nice or a sage green that's somewhat close to the lime that you have in mind.

I think the flowers could be green hydrangeas, white lily Anthia's , pink roses and yellow roses would be beautiful or you should just go to a creative florist that would be able to help you.

  6. I love the combo. Its young and fresh, yet elegant, crisp and classic. I would do alot of Ivory flowers for centerpieces in clear glass square vases. There are some at hobby lobby and they are 10 inches tall. they would look beautiful, also use a wider teal ribbon and double sided tape to go around the center of the vase, then a slimmer lime green ribbon to go around over that and tied to a bow. Dont use very much greenery it will clash. As for the groomsmen have them in black tuxes as well with teal vests and boutineer died to match. Good Luck and Congats.

  7. well i love lime green but not so much for a wedding and the teal is a good idea (i would only say with like pastel yellow)

for flowers i would do carnations idk y but i just think that white/pastel yellow would go GREAT with the teal [[if you do yellow instead of green either way i would still do carnations]]

guys tuxedos- you don't wanna so to much but i would just say a black tux, white shirt and maybe a flower in the top pocket [[yellow or teal]]

and it seems by the colors that your theme is like sort of spring  [[its seems like a very traditional yet original wedding to me]] i would say so for decorations you should do lots of flowers [[but dont overdue them]] doves maybe, things like that.

but what i think is its your wedding do what you wanna do ☺

i hope you find what you need ☺

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! ☺☺☺☺☺

    GOOD LUCK!!!! HAVE FUN!!!! ☺

  8. i love lime green!! but idk for a wedding

  9. This wedding was done in teal and lime/bright greens.  I saw it on an episode of "rich bride, poor bride", it was gorgeous!

Here is a link the theknot.com's coverage of the wedding:

    Good Luck!

  10. You could go with a lime green vest and tie for the groomsmen with black or ivory tuxes, and ivory shirts.  Cooooool!

Flowers for teal colored bridesmaid dresses: Try going for all cream colors with greens. If you want to add some teal colored flowers then the main flower could be teal hydrangea (dyed, which will add a lot to the price).   Or use pretty pink and white flowers with a touch of light green.  Have the bouquets tied with ivory ribbons.

The links below show 1) vest colors, 2) tie colors, 3) ways to incorporate green into your wedding, and 4) bouquets and corsages using ivory, green, and other colors.

BTW, I wore ivory and was surprised at just how well the flowers came out!  Talk to your florist and she can work wonders : )

There's so much out there that goes with ivory.  Email me through "Answers" if you have any more questions.

Have fun, congrats, and God bless!
