Tealissio to defy penalty in Gallagher Group Novices´ Hurdle at Folkestone
Tealissio’s Leicester success was solid enough to believe that he could defy the penalty in Gallagher Group Novices´ Hurdle, to be hosted by Folkestone on Tuesday, December 18th. The 6-year-old deserved to get off the mark on soft last time, when he demonstrated an excellent act in the hands of Dave Crosse.
After having an unlucky season, the bay gelding went on vacations in June. He ran several good races last season, but all in defeat. The Lucy Wadham-trained finally opened his account on his seasonal comeback last month.
In the Burton Overy Novices' Hurdle, the 5-1 chance chased the leaders brilliantly, and subsequently led two hurdles before the wire. After getting his head in front, he kept stretching his advantage, and eventually seized the first spot by half a dozen lengths.
Despite the fact that Tealissio was not fluent in the final stages, he did not face any difficultly in beating the 9-4 joint favourites, Benefit Cut and Kaylif Aramis. Having got off the mark in good style, the son of Helissio is ready for more.
Owned and bred by the Dyball Partnership, the dashing gelding is up against 11 horses. The conditions are testing, thus the participants need to be really careful. Over a distance of two miles, one furlong and 110 yards, the competition is for a handy prize of £2,738.
According to the betting forecast, Pine Creek and Whipcrackaway are enjoying the highest price of 3 to 1. The latter of two was industrious in victory at Fontwell, and might need more to be equally good here. A victory, however, must have boosted up confidence of Peter Hedger’s charge.
Pine Creek, one the other hand, is returning to action after a long while. Currently trained by John Ferguson, the 4-year-old was last seen in April, when he finished fifth on the table. The Ex-Andre Fabre trained had won once over one mile and three furlong, and it would be hard for the punters to overlook him.
A three-way battle is imminent among Pine Creek, Whipcrackaway and Tealissio, with the vote going for the third-named, despite the fact that he has a penalty to tackle. Good luck to all the contestants.
