Team Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al Qamzi, Ahmed Al Hameli impress at the 2011 UIM F1 H2O World Championship
Thani Al Qamzi and Ahmed Al Hameli of Team Abu Dhabi made a convincing run in the 2011 UIM F1 H2O World Championship and finished on third and fourth podium places, respectively. Both Emirati drivers compiled impressive respective scores, 75 and 70, after
participating in seven races. Team Abu Dhabi hit the second spot in teams’ points table with 154 points at the conclusion of the championship.
Both drivers were warmly welcomed by home spectators when Team Abu Dhabi arrived in Abu Dhabi to participate in the first UAE Grand Prix. The pair showed a good performance, especially Al Hameli, who clinched second position, while in the final Grand Prix
at Sharjah, he finished on top with 20 points and Al Qamzi was on second position.
As far as the Pole Positions are concerned, Al Hameli is standing on second podium finish with 87 points after Qatar Team’s Alex Carella, who compiled 94 points to claim top spot. The 33 year-old Emirati driver would have grabbed more points and improved
his position in the overall standings if he was not disqualified in Portugal Grand Prix.
Such an impressive performance from Team Abu Dhabi in the 2011 UIM F1 H2O World Championship will definitely open doors for many young drivers to find their place in the international circuits and make their country proud.
