Team Argentina announce their line up for Davis Cup Final – Tennis Special
Announcing their team today, Thursday, 1st December, team Argentina has done significant changes to their line up for the final round of Davis Cup 2011 against the mighty Spaniards. Although the Spaniards have a stronger team, the guest team is still very much positive for a win.
A shocker for the fans is that there has been deduction of a main player, Juan Ignacio Chela. On the other hand, team captain, Tito Vazquez, Chela has replaced Chela with Eduardo Schwank, currently ranked world No.143 in men’s singles.
In comparison, Chela has a much better record regarding his performance in Davis Cup. With a 9-1 win loss record on clay, the Argentine was one of the best options for the team while Schwank has a 3-0 win loss record and without a doubt, experience is what is require in this finale.
Moving on, the rest of the Argentine team is somewhat expected. Juan Martin Del Potro, world No.11, heads the team as their main weapon. Juan Monaco, world No.26, follows the higher ranked Argentine. Comparing stats of Monaco and Chela, the lower ranked Argentine has a better record and would’ve been better if the lower ranked was switched with the world no.26.
Carrying on, the last entry in Team Argentina is the great David Nalbandian, ranked world No.64. Formerly ranked world No.3, Nalbandian is somewhat the back-bone of the team. At a decisive stage, Nalbandian is a player likely to get the team out of trouble.
The veteran stands at a win loss record of 17-2 on clay courts and total of 33 wins out of 43 in Davis Cup appearances. Anyhow, the team needs a lot of motivation in order to turn down their side of the score in head-to-head fixtures. At the moment, Spain has a 3-nil lead over the Argentineans.
Considering the Spanish line-up, they outrank the guests completely. There was a chance that the Argentine team could do the unexpected; however, with Chela out of the box, there seems little chance for the Argentines to win. Anyways, the battle starts on Friday, 2nd of December 2011.
