Team Aspar confirms its 2012 MotoGP deal with Aprilia – MotoGP news
The Spanish MotoGP team, Aspar has confirmed its plans for the 2012 MotoGP season entry under Claim Rule Team with Aprilia RSV-4 machine.
The previously ran only single rider, Hector Barbera in the 2011 premier class season. After a rough season Barbera stepped out of the team. Now team Aspar has signed two new riders, former Pramac Racing rider Randy de Puniet and Aleix Espargaro for Moto2
category.
Aspar team owner said, “We are really happy because we find ourselves with a brand new challenge ahead of us and we have full faith that CRT is the future of MotoGP, which is why we are amongst the first to join this initiative.”
The high profile team from Spain tested its hybrid Aprilia machine at the Jerez circuit in Spain. De Puniet lapped impressive lap times on the track and gave a positive feedback from the machine.
He added, "As a team we continue to grow and after having a single rider for our first two seasons in MotoGP we will now have two in Randy de Puniet and Aleix Espargaro. I am pleased to welcome Randy back to the team; he was already with us back in 2005
and we have good memories.”
The Spanish rider, Espargaro has spent 2009 season with the team while racing for two events. In 2010 he raced a complete season aboard a Ducati machine and then shifted to Moto2 class with Pons Kalex.
The team owner is sure to endure a successive season with Spanish duo in the team. De Puniet will be riding for the MotoGP class and Espargaro is signed for the intermediate racing category.
He continued to comment on the preparations for the 2012 MotoGP season. He added that the team has a good past experience with the Aprilia and feels confident to use the reliable power plants.
The team has tended to run a racing project with Aprilia the new CRT category has given the best opportunity for it.
He expressed his view about the team plans for the 2012 season. The team aims to compete as strong as possible and become a title competitor for the 2013 MotoGP season.
