Team Australia to have New Manager after World Cup
Cricket Australia has announced a change in the team management which is to take place right after the World Cup Cricket 2011 will be over. According to the news, Gavin Dovey will replace the existing team manager Steve Bernard in April.
Dovey, who happens to be an expatriate Australian is currently serving as team operations manager with Rugby Football Union England.
The appointment of Dovey as the team manager for Australian cricket team was made because Bernard had been retiring right after the world cup event next year.
The handover of the team management between the new and the old manger will take place during their joint tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 with the team. The tour has been planned to take place immediately after the mega cricketing event.
While making the announcement regarding the change in team management, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 said that he was pleased to have Dovey with the team as his immense experience in sports management was rather desirable for a person
who was going to fill the role. Brown was hopeful that Dovey’s expertise would extend the desired help in the smooth operation of the team and the support group.
Acknowledging the talent of the would-be team manager, the general manager said, “Not surprisingly, we had a large field of strong candidates when we sought a replacement for Steve but Gavin was the stand-out candidate.”
While making the announcement and sharing his views over the change which was going to take place in the team management, Brown also praised the services of the retiring team manager and said, “Steve Bernard has been an outstanding Australian team manager,
is one of the most popular identities in world cricket and we knew his would be big shoes to fill.”
Educated in Canberra, Dovey had experience of working with the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority where from he got the opportunity and moved to RFU for managing the anti-doping issues. Dovey was later on promoted to his present position at RFU.
While asked to provide with his views over his new appointment, he stated that he was now looking forward to come to Australia to take care of his new responsibility, which was challenging but fulfilling at the same time.
Dovey, however, also said that RFU too had been great to him, which had provided him various opportunities to learn and to progress. But the main task before him was to support and manage the team which was followed by the whole nation.
