Team Australia’s physiotherapist gives green signal about Shane Watson’s comeback – Cricket News Update
Team Australia’s physiotherapist, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Kountouris-c43123, has ensured the talented all-rounder, Shane Watson’s comeback in the 3rd and last ODI against South Africa, playing down the perception that his back spasms, which occurred during the second one
dayer on Sunday, are linked to his hip injury.
Watson was forced to leave the field for back stiffness after bowling 3.5 overs in the first innings on October 23; however, he came to bat at No 6 in the second innings. Earlier, it was supposed that abrupt appearance of back spasms was a follow-up of the
hip injury which barred Watson from playing two games of this tour.
After keen examination, Kountouris has clarified that the back spasms were just a ‘random occurrence’, and Watson is now fit to play the final ODI and subsequent Test matches.
Talking to the media today, the physiotherapist said, “We’ve got a couple of days before we train so he probably doesn’t have to do much until Wednesday or even Thursday. He’s in a good place at the moment, he’s been playing loads and loads of cricket.”
However, he has expressed concerns over the all-rounder’s participation in the recently-concluded Champions League T20 tournament which, he thinks, aggravated his hip injury. “He didn’t have that two week break that the rest of the team had (between Sri
Lanka and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 tours) and he played Champions League,” stated Kountouris.
Watson represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 Blues in the event that was held on Indian soil last month.
The Aussie skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326’s full-fledge show in the decisive game that is scheduled to be played on Friday, October 28 at Durban.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 stated, “It was a very positive sign that he went back out and batted and I am very confident that he will ready for Friday's game.”
The match is going to be greatly important for both the teams as the 3-ODI series is levelled 1-1 currently. Analysts suggest that if Watson opens the innings, it will be somewhat convenient for the Kangaroos to outplay the Proteas.
The 30-year-old all-rounder has represented his national team in 30 Test, 139 ODI and 25 T20I games so far.
