Team Champion System eyeing the last race of the season before heading towards the 2013
The 2012 season had been a long and fruitful journey for Team Champion System who started its successful campaign at the Tour of Qatar 2012 in February.
The team just finished the Tour of Taihu Lake and is now eyeing the last race of the season in China before planning the 2013 season.
Team General Manager Ed Beamon noted that the squad aims at polishing the young cyclists into top professionals and one of the most unique aspects of the team is managing cyclists from different parts of the world.
He noted that administering the multi-cultural team helps him in polishing the young talent not only from Asia but also from other parts including Europe and United States.
“It's a part of the unique challenge," Beamon told Cyclingnews.
"Going into next year we've already got 12 countries represented. It is an intriguing mix of people and adds to the complications but also to some of the rewards of being part of the programme. It's a great education for everybody".
The team was founded back in 2010 with its headquarters in China and received its professional continental status in 2012.
Beamon admits that his first priority is to find the Chinese cyclists for the team as promoting the sport in China is amongst the team’s main objective.
He cited that finding the right guy can be really challenging at times because the team prefers someone who is talented with physical-mental strengths and also with the right personality.
While commenting on the team’s budget he voiced that finding an experienced guy is an option, he cannot avail that easily, as the team does not have the biggest of the budgets.
"One thing I've learned this year is it's not so important to have those guys racing in Europe as it is to have them exposed to the guys who have the experience of racing in Europe”.
"We are going to really try and limit the amount of racing they do and instead build the races around some very good training blocks to target specific races".
Beamon briefed that the final team squad for 2013 season will be revealed next month and he is optimistic that the team finds the right momentum in the season ahead.
