Team Christina Watches-Onfone expands its 2013 roster
The Danish Professional Cycling squad, Team Christina Watches-Onfone has announced the signings of three new cyclists in its 2013 line-up.
It was made public by the team’s co-owner and captain Michael Rasmussen that the former Vuelta a Espana stage and San Sebastian winner, Constantino Zaballa will join the team in the season ahead.
Team Manager Claus Hembo was delighted to have the Spaniard on his side and noted that he can really help the team in fulfilling its ambitions in the current season.
"We have big ambitions for next season and Zaballa will help to meet those ambitions,” he told Bicicilismo.
“Zaballa has a stage win in the Vuelta A España and the Clásica San Sebastián making it one great asset to the team”.
“Being able to attract a rider of his caliber, attests to the extent that we want to strengthen the team," Claus concluded.
Zaballa marked his professional debut with Team Kelme-Costa Blanca in 2001 and spent a period of three-years with the team.
He also rode for Team Saunier Duval-Prodir (2004-05), Team Caisse d'Epargne-Illes Balears (2006-07), Team LA-MSS (2008), Team LA-Rota dos Moveis (2009), Team Centro Ciclismo de Loulé – Louletano (2010) and joined spent a period of two years with Team Miche-Guerciotti after joining the team in 2011.
The Danish team also signed the two 22-year-old young guns, the Albanian, Eugert Zhupa and the Italian Daniel Aldegheri who has moved in the side from the amateur Trevigiani Dynamon Bottol squad.
"Aldegherli lives close to both Furlan and me," said Rasmussen to Feltek.dk.
"We have trained with him several times around Lake Garda, and he is really strong. Consequently, he was also a stagiare at Liquigas in the fall which screams quality".
Team Christina Watches-Onfone was founded back in 2009 with its headquarters in Denmark and has done exceptionally well in the past four seasons.
The team receives an automatic invitation on all the races at the UCI Continental Circuits under the leadership of Alex Rasmussen who is famous for winning the climbers jersey at the Tour de France 2005 and 2006.
The team is owned by the Danish watch designer Christina Hembo who bought the team back in December 2010 and the teams aims at becoming the best Danish UCI Continental team by the end of 2012.
