This was clearly the highlight of this week in terms of French football. Many people were waiting to see Franck Ribery speak to the French media. The mutineer of Knysna was already in a foul mood when he arrived in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 especially due to statements
given by media about his s*x scandal (Zahia).
Later on, his heavy involvement in the player’s striker in the World Cup further deteriorated his relation with the media and the French in general.
French national team’s communications manager, Philippe Tournon admits that before facing the media, the Bayern Munich man was very stressed and anxious.
It was Laurent Blanc who started the press conference as audience waited for Ribery to start talking.
When his turn came, the former Marseille man read a statement which seemed to have been written in haste and full of regret.
“I took the initiative and I got lost. I hurt people. I have disappointed and even shocked many others. I blame myself and I apologise. Now, we turn the page and talk about the future,” said Ribery.
However, Ribery spoke only of the past in most of his press conference. Though his words were filled with a lot of regret, there was also a spirit of revenge in the France international.
Almost like a victim, the winger played the sentimentality card by trying to lecture the journalists.
“I was always available to answer questions. And this is how I was rewarded. I do not like everyone but at least I respect people.”
Ribery also revealed that he never had any problem with Yoann Gourcuff and also said that he has had a discussion with the Lyon man.
“It does not please me to hear that I was unfair and that Gourcuff was the victim. I never had a problem with him. I wish he denies this but he never did. It does not matter, but I’m having a discussion with him.”
However, the star player said that it was great to be back for the national team and he was very happy when he returned to Clairefontaine.
Ribery then said that it was Lauren Blanc who was his saviour as he went to great pains to bring him back to the national fold.
