I have asked a few people about this.Some say the R is the 2nd letter

of Britain.Some have said Republic,but I think it is Rex/Regina.I am 56

but can't think of it coming up before,in conversation.

  1. I always thought it was the second letter of Britain, because they have things like "USA" on the Americans and "JAM" on the Jamaicans... not certain though.

  2. Great BRitain

    HKG = Hong KonG

  3. 3 letters are needed.

    So, R may be from the second letter of Britain

  4. GBR = Great Britain Rocks?

    -_-

  5. Why not UK?  The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  Northern Ireland doesn't have an Olympic team.

  6. GBR is the best abbreviation as it is the only 3 letter combination that rolls off the tongue as Great BRitain. Can't use the first 3 letters like most countries as GRE is taken by Greece.

  7. You need 3 letters and R would be the logical choice.

    GBR R- is for the second letter in Britain.
