Team Green Edge signs the young Belgian rider Jens Keukeleire – Cycling News
Belgian rider Jens Keukeleire has joined the Australian team Green Edge as the squad has almost completed their roaster for the coming season. With majority of Australian cyclists in the squad, team Green Edge is looking ahead for a UCI license in 2012.
Team is supported by Gerry Ryan who is the financial backer of the team as termed professionally in the sport.
Keukeleire mentioned that he is glad that team Green Edge has given him this opportunity to learn from the specialist cyclists like Stuart O’ Grady and McEwen as he has always looked ahead to these cyclists and has huge respect for them.
Shayne Bannan is the general manager of team Green Edge and he mentioned that he was looking forward to hiring the Belgian rider since the past few years as he has observed Jens for the first time Belgian’s Under-23 squad. He further added that he was deeply
moved by the abilities of the rider and is delighted to have him in the team.
Bannan seemed greatly moved by the Belgian riders as he mentioned that, “The Belgians are born with these races in their DNA so Jens understands exactly what we’re trying to achieve.” He further added that Keukeleire is still very young and can be an important
future prospect for the team as he has the ability to go on and win the spring classics in the coming seasons.
After his inclusion in the team the 22-year-old said, “I still have a lot to learn. I need to get stronger and to improve my training, my technique and my tactical skills. Green Edge is giving me the platform and time to improve and develop on all those
areas.”
