Team GreenEdge secured two world titles during the UCI Track World Championships in Melbourne Australia
Michael Hepburn and Cameron Meyer helped Team GreenEdge with two victories during the ongoing UCI Track World Championships.
Hepburn claimed the 4 kilometre individual pursuit in a fastest time of 0:04:13.224 and overcame his major competitors.
"It's something very special but after the disappointment in the team pursuit the other day, that's the one we really wanted”, Hepburn admitted.
“It was nice going into the final knowing that whatever happened, GreenEdge and Australia would have a rainbow jersey in the individual pursuit".
"I tried to go into the race confident but at the same time, Jack's probably the best individual pursuiters in the world”.
“He's one of the most hungry pursuiters in the world and I knew he wasn't going to give in. I couldn't give him an ", he concluded.
Jack Bobridge, Rohan Dennis, Westley Gough and Geraint Thomas occupied the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Cameron Meyer secured the top position at the Men’s Points Race and filled his pockets with as many as 33 points.
Ben Swift of Great Britain finished second with 32 points to his credit while the Belgian rider Kenny De Ketele and Aaron Gate of New Zealand occupied the next four positions with 32, 30 and 28 points respectively.
Team GreenEdge is currently enjoying a terrific season and has registered a number of victories already.
Team’s first win came during the UCI inaugural event, Tour Down Under. Simon Gerrans helped the side with an overall victory at the event.
Simon Gerrans also finished first during the Milan-San Remo and is currently holding the second overall position at the UCI Elite Men ranking as of April 2012 with 210 points to his credit.
Tom Boonen of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step is leading the classifications with 366 points.
Team GreenEdge currently occupies the fifth overall spot at the team’s classifications with Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step at the top overall position.
Team Katusha, Team Liquigas-Cannondale and Team Sky are holding the second, the third, the fourth and the fourth positions in the respective order.
Shayne Bannan is team’s General Manager and he is happy with his side’s current performance.
Bannan is positive that the team will build up on its start to continue picking up victories in the later part of the season.
