Former Indian captain and the current chairman of selectors, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, despite massive criticism, has said that everyone must admit the reality that England is the better side now, as compared to Dhoni and his men.
The 51-year-old, Srikkanth, who will have to answer to the Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) about his selection policy regarding England's tour, in next annual general meeting in September, refused to say anything about
the issue.
The national selectors, who were waiting to get extensions in their contracts, will appear before the board to explain their England selection policy, where team India has been badly crushed by 3-0 in the ongoing 4-match Test series.
Meanwhile talking about the home team's performance, Srikkanth said England’s dominancy is due to their winning attitude and having in-form bowlers in their squad.
"Very honestly, we must gracefully accept the fact that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 is playing better cricket than India. They have got one of the best bowling attacks especially in English conditions", said Srikkanth, who has played 43 Tests.
Talking about the Indian explosive opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705, Srikkanth said that there is no question
about replace Sehwag. He said all Indian batsmen have been performed their best in the past.
"You cannot replace a guy like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HA-Varaiya-c1520 straight away. But there are guys who have done well in the past. We have won matches in the past even in the absence of these player," he added.
Nothing has gone in favor of team India during the ongoing Test series against England. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 have lost the series, the rank and the Pataudi Trophy.
Srikkanth has claimed that India’s defeats were due to injuries and nothing worked for the side, which is facing a crisis situation currently.
He cited, "Nothing clicked for us, it is a combination of everything and it is the effect of injuries also. It is a crisis situation for Team India, where everything went wrong."
The 4th npower Test match between both sides is scheduled for August 18, 2011, at the Oval.
