Team Lotus' car ready to hit the track in January 2011
After having heard a lot of contrasting stories from the Team Lotus' headquarters finally its fans get some good news. The team’s car is near its completion stages and after the final finishing work, the car will be ready for its launch, in January 2011.
The chief executive of Team Lotus', Riad Asmat revealed earlier today that the factory is busy in the final designing and manufacturing of the car, while all the work will be completed by the start of next year. The last few months have seen the squad burry
deep down into a lot of controversies and disputes. The team initially met blazing flames from the car manufacture company, Group Lotus for the team’s title and now recently the issue of the car colour has come up.
As the team principal, Tony Fernandes announced earlier this season that the team will be using the same title ‘Team Lotus’ for next season as well, Group Lotus’ filled a court case against it, claiming to be the original heir of the name. Moreover, only
a little time back, Group Lotus signed a deal with the former Renault F1 Team to be their title sponsor. That means the 2011 grid will be seeing two teams with the same title as Renault has changed into ‘Lotus Renault GP.’
However, Asmat insisted on Friday (today) morning, that the team has left all the issues for the court to decide, while it is fully focused on the progress of its T127 car's successor.
He further clarified, "Our 2011 car has been in the wind tunnel since July and we have achieved our monthly objectives set. I'm very pleased with the situation and we're just eager for the launch of the car in January."
However, the Wednesday's announcement regarding the collaboration of the Group Lotus' with Renault F1 has brought a big change in the colour of the team’s car. It was initially announced to be painted in black and gold, but owing to the same announcement
by Renault, Lotus has to stick to green and yellow, the shades of the legendary Lotus team
Asmat explained saying, "We might have to look into the colours before the season starts. But it's just colours, nothing much. The majority of public feedback wants us to continue using the green and yellow livery. But the most important aspect of the car
is how fast it can go, not how beautiful it will look in either green or black."
