Team Lotus driver Heikki Kovalainen happy for teammate Jarno Trulli’s pace improvement – Formula 1
Team Lotus’s Heikki Kovalainen has recently stated that he is happy for his teammate Jarno Trulli who has improved his pace and is now performing up to the mark once again for the team.
“The fact that the new steering is better for him is positive for the whole team, and me as well. When you're on your own, you don't know if you're doing your job well or not. You need a good comparison,” he told the media.
Despite the fact that Trulli retired from the race, he had a pretty strong race as he was going very well until the problem with his power steering system started.
Team Lotus are still struggling to perform though and this is getting very frustrating for them as they will now have to wait until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season in order to build and test their new car.
The team was aiming for a mid-running spot in the Formula 1 grid in 2011 but unfortunately, they have not been able to improve their performance and yet again, they are a back-running team alongside Virgin Racing Team and Hispania Racing Team.
However, Lotus are much better than their rivals and they are introducing some pretty good upgrades to their car as well. The team recently introduced a new system to the car and since Trulli did not take part at the German Grand Prix, he was delighted to
be back on track.
“Karun did a respectable performance (in Germany) but Jarno has much more experience and that's exactly what we need in our team at the moment. I can say that the stronger my team-mate is and the better he feels in the car, the better it is for me, because
I am driven so much more to the limit,” added Kovalainen.
The upcoming race is expected to take place in Belgium after a month’s break and it seems that the team is going to use Jarno Trulli once again instead of Karun Chandhok who drove for the team at the German Grand Prix.
