Team Lotus driver Jarno Trulli insists he is not performing anywhere near his best – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus driver Jarno Trulli has said that he is far from his best in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
Trulli believes that his best performance in the season is yet to come. He stated that he has been struggling to get used to the power steering system of his car so far but is hoping for improvements soon.
“At the moment I'm far from being at my best. It doesn't need much to get better, just a little bit more feeling in the power steering. And eventually when we get this aero upgrade working we will make a big step forward,” Trulli told the media.
Trulli has been unable to perform better than his teammate Heikki Kovalainen so far in the ongoing season. Kovalainen has been qualifying ahead of the Italian since the beginning of the campaign and finished 20 seconds ahead of him at the Chinese Grand Prix
as well.
The team is struggling to perform up to its expectations as well since they believed that they had a car good enough to challenge the mid-running teams of the sport but it seems that is not the case.
Both of its drivers have not been able to score a single point since the beginning of the season and on top of that, they have performed poorly in the qualifying rounds as well.
“So far I only complain about the power steering which is not working the way I want. It doesn't give me the feel from the car, it doesn't give me the confidence to really push and unlock the car's potential. I'm looking forward to having a better feeling
with the car, that's my first priority,” said the Italian driver.
This is Jarno Trulli’s 15th season in the sport and he admitted that these recent problems have taken out the pleasure of driving in Formula 1 for him.
The next race of the 2011 Formula 1 season is scheduled to take place in Turkey this weekend. Let’s hope Trulli performs to his potential and makes the race more interesting.
