Team Lotus driver Jarno Trulli pleased with new power steering for Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus driver Jarno Trulli is pleased with the new power steering installed in his machine during the first two free practice sessions of the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring, Budapest.
Apparently, it seems to be a solution to his problems he is facing since the season start.
Trulli said, “I want to thank the whole team, everyone at the factory and in the race team because they have all been patient with me and have worked hard to give me the new power steering system and a car that I can really feel.”
The issues faced by the Italian have hampered his performance throughout the season. Trulli has been outperformed by his teammate Heikki Kovalainen on several occasions.
He further explained that as he hit the track for the morning session, he was relieved and felt much better about his Lotus machine. Now he is working further on the little details that will help him to tune a suitable package for the race day.
The new steering system has helped him to regain the confidence on his Lotus. He claimed it to be a pleasant and progressive practice day at Hungarian race weekend. The Italian was extremely grateful to his team for the upgrade and the effort they made during
the last event to develop a flawless component.
Lotus Chief Technical Officer, Mike Gascoyne said, “That was one of the best Fridays we have had this year. We have made some modifications to the diffuser and those changes have definitely worked, and with Jarno immediately telling us the new power steering
system is working exactly as we wanted it to we have been able to push closer to the cars ahead than we have for a while.”
With a new steering system, Trulli was able to be faster than his teammate, Kovalainen by 0.4 seconds and just 0.1 seconds off from Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso.
