Team Lotus duo Trulli, Kovalainen looking forward to 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen are looking forward to the upcoming Suzuka race, which is taking place on October 9, 2011 in Japan.
Both the drivers said that despite their position in the 2011 championship battle at the moment, they are still targeting to put their team in form in the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Team Lotus driver Kovalainen talked to the media and stated that they really worked hard throughout the recently held Singapore race weekend. He added that the new upgrades, which have been delivered to their T128 car for the Singapore race, worked out really
well for them during the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Talking to reporters, Kovalainen commented, “Most guys will say 130R is the corner that really stands out – it’s pretty hardcore heading in there at over 190mph and knowing you have to stay committed to avoid losing any time, but for me the best bit of the
track is the whole run in S1 from T1 to T7.”
The Finn driver started his Singapore race from the 19th position at the Marina Bay Street Circuit and after struggling on the sets of soft and supersoft tyres by Pirelli, he came at the 16th place in the
final race classifications.
On the other hand, his teammate Trulli is aiming to drive well for his team at the Suzuka circuit next weekend. He mentioned that he always loves to race in Japan, so he is really looking forward to getting back again on the grid for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Italian driver said, “I’d had such a good start and was holding off the Toro Rosso and both Renaults well, even running 11th at one point as we went into the first round of stops, but the puncture I suffered when Alguersuari hit me was just another one
of those things.”
Trulli further added that he is hopeful of getting a lot out of their car in Suzuka. He retired from the Singapore race weekend due to having a gearbox issue.
Let’s see how both of the drivers Kovalainen and Trulli perform in the Japanese race weekend following their disappointing Singapore Grand Prix.
