Team Lotus hoping for better performance in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
A recent statement by Team Lotus says that they are all excited about the upcoming 2011 season and are hoping for better results as compared to their 2010 run.
Team Lotus has two of the most experienced and well-known drivers even though they are one of the back running teams of the sport but in 2011, they plan to change that and hopefully run alongside the mid-running teams.
Heikki Kovalainen stated that he is very excited and looking forward to drive in Australia at the season opening race that is scheduled to take place on 27 March, 2011.
Team Lotus believes that they have produced a much better car than they did back in 2010 and are hoping of scoring some points as well.
“Whatever happens I'm really excited about getting back to racing and with the steps forward we have taken this year I think we're going to have a really good year,” said Heikki.
Jarno Trulli on the other hand believes that the reintroduction of adjustable rear wings is going to make racing more exciting as it feels like driving a ‘rocket’ with the device.
“We can use it (adjustable rear wing) wherever we like in practice and qualifying but in the races it'll only be when we're within one second of the car ahead and in the designated area so I think it will have a big part to play strategically,” said Jarno.
He added that it will play a major part in the 2011 Formula 1 season. It is believed that the team that gets the best balance of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System, adjustable rear wings and the rest of the package is going to have the best car that would
enable its respective drivers to perform at their best.
Other than that, Team Lotus’ principal Tony Fernandes also stated that he cannot wait to get back on the track and since Team Lotus is not a new team anymore, they are hoping of producing some very good results this time.
It is going to be interesting to see how the three new teams that were introduced in the previous season perform in the new season.
