Team Lotus to test new rear wing in upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Team Lotus will test the new ear wing in their T128 car in the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix in order to close the gap in qualifying.
The 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix will take place Sunday, November 27 at the Sao Paulo racetrack.
The team’s technical director Mike Gascoyne talked to the media and said that they will be bringing a new rear wing in their car to the last round of the 2011 Formula 1 season in order to close the gap in qualifying.
He added that their race pace has been good throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, but they have not been able to match that in the qualifying rounds. However, they hope the update to the rear wing will help them in improving the efficiency of their
Drag Reduction System in Brazil.
Gascoyne commented, “In simple terms, because DRS can be used anywhere on track in qualifying our performances in Q1 have not matched our race performances where DRS usage is limited, and bringing a new wing that gives us more downforce and improves the
efficiency of the system should see us being able to close the gap in qualifying to the cars ahead compared to the previous races.”
The Hingham-based outfit made a lot of progress in the current season as compared to last year. They tried to improve in terms of performance throughout the 2011 F1 season.
Team Lotus are still unable to score a single point in the season so far. Both of the drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli tried their best all season, but due to an unsupportive role of T128 cars, they could not get better results for the team.
In the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli came at the 17th and 18th places in the final race classifications after running at the Yas Marina Circuit.
After completing 18 rounds of the season, Kovalainen is placed at the 22nd position in the drivers’ championship, while his teammate Trulli is sitting at the 21st spot in standings at the moment.
Let’s see how both of them perform in Brazil this weekend at the Sao Paulo circuit.
