Team McClanahan beats Team Housley to win the US Hockey All American Prospects game
Seth Jones, a 17-year-old ice hockey player and one of the top candidates to be selected first overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, helped Team McClanahan to beat the Team Housley in the US Hockey All American Prospects game which was played on Saturday, at the
First Niagara Centre, the home ice of Buffalo Sabres.
The end result was 5-2 as the game was watched by more than 5500 fans and they saw Hudson Fasching, Jacob Montgomery, Quentin Shore and Dakota Mermis also share their names on the score sheet with Jones.
The game which was first of its kind and had got everybody excited about it, as it was being referred as the game of American Hockey’s future, loved upto its expectation and was a very entertaining and exciting game.
38 players, who would also feature in next year’s NHL draft, were made to put all of their energy in the game and were made to work very hard in the three periods of 20 minutes before Team McClanahan came out victorious.
17-year-old Right winger, Hudson Fasching, who has currently committed with University of Minnesota to play with them in the 2013-2014 season, was also a goal scorer and very happy on the win as he praised his fellow player Fitzgerald, who assisted him and
the defensemen for the win. He thought that he was assisted very well as he said,
"I think we had a good breakout. The [defensemen] were pinching hard so we knew we could chip the puck out and get it going. Fitzy [Fitzgerald] had a great play down the wall. I did my best to get open for him. He hit me on a perfect pass backdoor and that
really got things going."
Team McClanahan’s coach Rob McClanahan was also very happy with the performance of his boys as he thinks his team took the match away from opponents in the second period as he said,
"I think we calmed down after the first five or 10 minutes of the first period. We played much better in the second half of the first period and then we just carried that through the rest of the game."
