Team NetApp and Endura Racing combines for upcoming season
Team NetApp and Team Endura Racing have decided to join hands for the season ahead and the two teams will merge to form Team NetApp-Endura for 2013 season.
The team will be based in Germany with a Professional Continental license and will have a total number of 20 riders on its squad.
“We have undergone a sporting development that is virtually unprecedented," said Ralph Denk, Team NetApp team manager. "In three years we have managed to develop young riders into significant performers at the Giro d'Italia”.
“With ten victories so far, the team races its best season ever. I am delighted that NetApp continues to support this".
The announcement was made earlier this week and both the American and the British sponsors have decided to ride under one name for two years minimum.
NetApp is a US based company that provides data management and storage solutions, while Endura is a technical cycle clothing brand in England.
Director of Endura Ltd, Jim McFarlane was also overwhelmed on signing the deal and noted that the combination of the two teams will help both the sides.
He cited that Team Endura Racing and Team NetApp share the same ideology of reaching the highest level of success and Team NetApp-Endura will be amongst the top professional cycling teams.
"Team NetApp and Endura Racing share the same ambition of progressing to the highest levels of sporting success and our commitment to Team NetApp-Endura means that we will be present at some of the biggest races on the planet".
"I can confirm that there are serious conversations that are well developed in that area".
Team NetApp was founded in 2010 with a German UCI Professional Continental licence and NetApp is its main backer.
The German squad is enjoying a terrific season with numerous top victories in its bag including an overall win by Jan Barta at the Settimana internazionale di Coppi e Bartali 2012.
It also managed to secure the team’s time trial and the individual time trial stages of the races and Barta was yet again the team’s top performer.
It will be interesting to see how the new team performs in the coming season, as both the sponsors has high expectations and only the best cyclists will make it through the final 20.
