Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step announces its new Twitter policy
Sporting Director of Team Omega Pharma-QuickStep has announced new Twitter policies for all its riders.
The cyclists on the Belgian squad are now prohibited to use their Twitter accounts within an hour of finishing the race.
The basic idea behind the new policy is mainly because of the fact that the emotions runs really high and one can easily drift apart from being logical after a tight finish.
He told ekstrabladet.dk, "The only rule we have on our team is that they do not send Twitter messages out before an hour after the finish".
"I think they just need to get their rawest emotion out of their minds after a sprint. Otherwise they get might write something they regret”.
“I think you just have to think twice before sending a Twitter message that might bother someone".
"It creates some debate, and personally I think it's okay when the riders get annoyed with each other a little".
“I like people who dare. You should have your say about things”.
Holm also briefed that even though he does not use social media himself but briefed its usefulness for the sport.
Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step is currently enjoying a terrific season and has filled its bag with numerous victories already.
The Belgian side currently holds the top spot at the UCI World Tour Teams rankings with a maximum number of 547 points to its credit.
Tom Boonen made the maximum contribution of 366 points, Niki Terpstra (90), Tony Martin (52), Sylvain Chavanel (24) and Dario Cataldo (15).
Team Liquigas-Cannondale is holding the second spot with 516 UCI points with Team Katusha, Team Astana and Team GreenEdge holding the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Boonen is enjoying a marvellous form and has filled his bag with numerous victories in the season already.
He claimed an overall victory during the Tour of Qatar and also bagged two stages at the race.
Tom achieved the top spot at the Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of Flanders, the Gent-Wevelgem and the E3 Harelbeke 2012.
The Belgian side is currently seen in action at the Tour de Romandie and holds the 14th overall spot after the stage 1 classifications.
