Team Omega Pharma - Quickstep optimistic for the Worlds Team Time Trial event
The reigning World Time Trial Champion, Tony Martin is all set to lead Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step at UCI Road World Championships, Teams Time Trial race on Sunday.
The cyclist’s main focus for this year’s Championships will be the Individual Time Trials which is scheduled three days after the team’s event.
Martin will skip the road race in order to ensure his peak form to defend his title at the 47.5 kilometre Individual Time Trials race scheduled on September 19th between Heerlen - Valkenburg aan de Geul.
Sports Director, Wilfred Peeters noted that his team is motivated for the coming race and will not settle for anything less than a podium spot.
"The riders are motivated," said Sports Director Wilfred Peeters.
"We did some specific training but it will be important that on Friday and Saturday, we will do more training on the parcour to tune up all of the duties and responsibilities of each rider”.
"We have the ITT World Champion and German Champion in Tony Martin, a strong rider likes Niki Terpstra”.
“Tom Boonen who proved he is in very good condition at the moment and three other ITT national champions in Vandewalle, Peter Velits and Sylvain Chavanel”.
“Those three are in good condition and ready to fight for a solid result".
All the major cycling teams are lining up for the biggest cycling event of the year and it will be interesting to see if Tony Martin manages to defend his title in Holland.

11:00-12:30 - Team Time Trial - UCI Women's teams , 34.2 km , Sittard-Geleen - Valkenburg aan de Geul
13:30-16:40 - Team Time Trial - UCI Men's teams , 53.2 km , Sittard-Geleen - Valkenburg aan de Geul

September 17

10:00-12:05 - Individual Time trial - Junior Men , 26,6 km , Landgraaf - Valkenburg aan de Geul
14:00-16:25 - Individual Time trial - Under 23 Men , 36,0 km , Landgraaf - Valkenburg aan de Geul

September 18

10:30-12:20 - Individual Time trial - Junior Women , 15.6 km , Eijsden-Margraten - Valkenburg aan de Geul
14:30-16:50 - Individual Time trial - Elite Women , 24.3 km , Eijsden-Margraten - Valkenburg aan de Geul
