Team Pacquiao offers 70-30 split for winner to Mayweather – Boxing News
In an attempt to make the superfight happen, Manny Pacquiao’s camp has offered Floyd Mayweather Jr. a 70-30 split for the winner. This way, the winner of the bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather will get 70% of the pay-per-view revenue while the loser will
walk away with 30%. Pacquiao’s business advisor Rex ‘Wakee’ Salud confirmed this news.
Recently, Mayweather and Pacquiao both revealed that they have no issues fighting with each other, however both the fighters are looking for ‘more money’. While Mayweather think he is the best and he deserves 60% of the pay-per-view earning, Manny thinks
he is no less and he should be treated equally. In their recent revelations, it has been clarified that both fighters are willing to clash only if money matters are solved wisely and up to their desires. No updates from Mayweather’s camp have been received
yet. However, chances are that Floyd will once again reject the idea since he has already firmly said he will not shift the split offer he made to Manny.
Manny has previously said that he felt embarrassed with Mayweather’s offer of a flat $40 million while Mayweather wanted to keep the entire pay-per-view revenue. Bob Arum, Manny’s promoter, made a counter offer to Mayweather of $50 million flat while Manny
will keep the PPV revenue. However, Mayweather rejected the offer saying he knows what he wants.
Later on, Pacquiao’s side came up with a 55-45 split with the winner walking away with 55% while the loser stays with 45%. Unfortunately, the offer was again rejected by Mayweather. This was the last offer that was exchanged between both the fighters before
they signed up for other opponents. Mayweather signed up to fight Miguel Cotto on May 5 whereas Manny will fight undefeated Timothy Bradley on June 9.
Last week, Mayweather was in an interview with Bob Costas. Mayweather was asked as to why he is so determined to keep the entire PPV proceeds, on which Mayweather replied, “How my deal is structured at this particular time in the sport of boxing, I keep
100 percent of the revenue. So why should I even give a guy 50-50 if I'm out there?”
