Team Rabobank retains Maarten Tjallingii for the fifth consecutive season
Team Rabobank has retained Maarten Tjallingii for the 2013 season and the cyclist will now continue his fifth consecutive season with the side.
The side has shown faith in Maarten and he is also a strong part of the Dutch sides Tour de France line up.
He will be accompanied by Robert Gesink (Ned), Steven Kruijswijk (Ned), Bauke Mollema (Ned), Mark Renshaw (Aus), Luis Leon Sanchez Gil (Spa), Bram Tankink (Ned), Laurens Ten Dam (Ned), and Maarten Wynants (Bel) in the coming race.
The 34-year-old started his professional pursuit with Team Skil-Shimano in 2006 and stayed with the team by the end of 2007 season.
He accepted an offer from Team Silence-Lotto in 2008 and penned a deal with the Dutch side, Team Rabobank in 2009.
Tjallingii helped the team with a fourth position at the Prologue stage of the Eneco Tour 2010 and occupied the third overall spot at the Paris-Nice 2011.
His career’s best performance came during the same year as his professional debut, with overall victories and a stage each at the Tour of Belgium and the Tour of Qinghai Lake 2006.
Team General Manager Erik Breukink is delighted to have him on the side and noted that Maarten has always shown high level of commitment throughout his career.
"He is at a high level and is committed to being there from start of the season to the end," Breukink voiced.
"We've got a fairly young team here, and these young guys need someone who can share his experience with them, who can be of service to them".
Tjallingii was overwhelmed after securing the deal with Team Rabobank and noted that he is more comfortable in his role as a domestique.
"I enjoy taking a lot of the work off of the team captains' hands and helping them stay fresh for their own work," he admitted.
"It's my job, especially in stage races, to give my all to the team. By doing that, I can help others improve on their performances”.

Maarten’s next big race will be the Tour de France and the cyclist is all set to continue his support for the team at the contest.
