Team Rabobank signs Jack Bobridge for the new season
Dutch side, Team Rabobank confirmed the news of signing Jack Bobridge for the season ahead after the team made it official today.
The cyclist was given a two-year contract and will now be seen in Team Rabobank colours for 2013-14 seasons.
The 23-year-old signed a two-year contract with Team Orica-GreenEdge in 2012 but successfully negotiated his way out of the contract.
He had a disappointing 2012 season with zero victories in his bag after several appearances across the calendar.
Jack was optimistic for the 2012 Olympic Games but had to face the disappointment after he was fined for driving under the influence (DUI) along with the team neo-pro Michael Hepburn.
The cyclist marked his professional debut with Team Garmin-Transitions in 2010 and spent a period of two years with the team.
Shayne Bannan was given the World Tour licence for his side, Team GreenEdge for the 2012 season and he signed several new riders for the team.
Jack was given a two-year contract because of his tremendous abilities to dominate the track races.
However, it appears as if the cyclist has now decided to divert his focus towards the road race events for the 2013 season and he will now be seen in Team Rabobank colours for 2013-14 season on road racing.
"I want to develop myself further down the road," he said on the Rabobank website.
"The Rabobank Cycling Team has experience in training young talents to good road racers. I am a real team player, want to help my teammates. That is my strength”.
Team has also retained van Emden for one more year after his not so good performance in the 2012 season.
“I have not really been able to show myself this year, through various circumstances,” he said.
“I am very happy with this contract extension; I know what is expected of me”.
The Dutch team has also announced the exit of Coen Vermeltfoort after his deteriorated performance in the 2012 season and will now represent Team Cyclingteam De Rijke-Shanks.
Team Rabobank is enjoying a mixed 2012 season with an eighth overall spot after the UCI World Tour team’s rankings and Team Management is strengthening its squad for the season ahead.
