Team RadioShack-Nissan announced squads for Tour of Utah and the Eneco Tour
Team RadioShack-Nissan is having a rough season, not only because of the dried victories but injuries, doping allegations and the team’s internal clashes have made it one of the worst debutant team in the sport.
Andy Schleck’s knee injury that ruled him out of the Tour de France was a major setback for the team.
The three-time podium finisher at the race prepared the whole year for the event but was unlucky after the doctors declared him unfit for the three-week race.
Andy’s exit from the race was followed by the allegations of trafficking the UCI illegal substance on no one else but the Team Manager Johan Bruyneel.
Frank Schleck participated at the Tour de France without his brother Andy for the first time in five years.
It was not long when the older Schleck was called off from the race because of a positive Sample A taken during the Tour de France.
Following all the controversies, the Team’s major sponsor Enovos announced that it has decided to part ways with the team following the bad image that it is carrying.
"Unfortunately, the 2012 season did not bring the desired results," the statement reads.
"Considering only the sports section, this is part of the risk of sponsoring”.
"Too many negatives have occured since the beginning of the year”.
“Finally, the withdrawal of Fränk Schleck from the 2012 Tour de France, following an abnormal result from doping control, led Enovos to reconsider its partnership with RadioShack-Nissan Trek”.
“Therefore, the sponsorship agreement is terminated by Enovos with effect from 1 August 2012”.
The Luxembourg team is still optimistic to race the remaining part of the season in high spirits as it recently announced squads for the Eneco Tour and the Tour of Utah.
