Team RadioShack-Nissan continues its splendid form in the 2012 season
It was known right from the beginning of the new season that the newly formed Team RadioShack-Nissan will be amongst the toughest teams of the season.
The Luxembourg side did just the thing to claim yet another win of the young season. The team secured the top position at the Team’s classifications after its splendid performance at the Vuelta a Andalucia 2012.
Frank Schleck secured the top spot for the team and finished 7th after the final general classifications at the race.
He was accompanied by teammates, Haimar Zubeldia Agirre and Maxime Monfort at the 8th and the 9th positions, respectively.
Jens Voigt helped the side on the final day of the Spanish race. He filled his both pockets with a number of points during the Mountains and the Sprints category of the event.
He was quoted as saying, "I always take my chances, I was in the right break and then I always believe in my chances. Sometimes it's only a small chance, but I still believe. In the group we worked well together. I tested the others and I felt good".
The two top teams, Team RadioShack and Team Leopard Trek decided to join hands for the 2012 season to form Team RadioShack-Nissan and the team has started the 2012 season in a terrific manner.
Johan Bruyneel, team’s General Manager, is happy with the squad's performance. His tribe secured the Team’s Classifications at the Santos Tour Down Under and the Young rider classifications at the Tour of Oman.
The Luxembourg based side also succeeded in grabbing the team’s classifications at the Tour of Oman.
Kim Anderson, the team’s Director, believes that his side has justified itself after its tremendous efforts during the race.
He mentioned, "It was our plan all along today to have Jens in the break and it worked out, Ok, he was too close on the GC to be let go but you can't win if you don't try. It was a good tour. Our riders are in good shape and we won the team general classification".
It will be interesting to see if the Luxembourg team can continue its winning momentum after a terrific start to its 2012 campaign.
