Team RadioShack-Nissan extends Laurent Didier’s services for two more years
The Luxembourg side, Team RadioShack-Nissan extended its contract with Laurent Didier for two more years after his convincing performance in the current season.
The cyclist was delighted to secure his two future seasons with one of the strongest World Tour sides, and is optimistic to improve his performance in the seasons ahead.
He noted that choosing to stay with the Luxembourg team was an easy decision as he had a terrific first season with the team.
“It was not a difficult decision for me,” Lauren told Wort.lu.
“I absolutely wanted to stay with the team. I like the project and look forward to being there for two more years”.
He further added, “I was very satisfied with my race program this year”.
“The team supported me really well, the trainers are fantastic and I have a lot of friends on the team. So why should I leave?”
The 28-year-old finished first at the National Road Race Championships and the mountain classifications at the Tour de Wallonie.
He rode exceptionally well at the Tour of Austria 2012 and claimed a 12th overall position after the final general classifications at the race.
Didier marked his professional debut with Team Kuota-Senges in 2006 and spent a period of three years with the team.
He spent a year each with Team CSC (2008), Team Designa Kokken (2009) before joining the Danish side, Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank in 2010.
The Luxembourg cyclist stayed with Team Saxo Bank through 2011 and accepted an offer from Team RadioShack-Nissan in 2012.
He is delighted to ride along Bob Jungle, another 20-year-old Luxembourg cyclist who rode for the Leopard Trek Continental team previously.
Didier stated, “I am proud to ride for a Luxembourg team and the fact that Bob Jungels will join us, made my decision even easier”.
Team RadioShack-Nissan had a disappointing season dominated by injuries, doping allegations and internal conflicts and has not claimed any significant victories in the season.
Most of the top cyclists including, Fabian Cancellara, Andy Schleck, Andreas Kloden and Jens Voigt have already been retained by the team for the season ahead.
Whereas, Jakob Fuglsang, Daniele Bennati and Oliver Zaugg have decided to leave the Team RadioShack-Nissan after the completion of their contracts.
