Team RadioShack-Nissan hopeful for Tony Gallopin at the Criterium du Dauphine 2012
Tony Gallopin is striving hard to make it happen for his side, Team RadioShack-Nissan at the Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
The Luxembourg based side has struggled to perform to its calibre in the current season despite being one of the most high-priced team in the peloton.
Team RadioShack-Nissan has only secured three victories in the 2012 season including a stage 7 win at the Tirreno-Adriatico and a first place finish at the Strade Bianche which came through the mighty Fabian Cancellara.
Jakob Fuglsang helped the team with an overall victory at the Tour de Luxembourg, which concluded a total number of three victories for the side.
The team has tried its luck on numerous occasions including the Giro d’Italia but struggled to find the right rhythm at the race.
The young French cyclist, Tony Gallopin has brought a ray of hope for the team after his superb performances at the ongoing Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
The 24-year-old secured the third overall spot after the Tour of Oman and also succeeded at the young rider’s classifications at the race.
He finished amongst the top ten during the opening five stages of the Bayern-Rundfahrt and is looking good to help the team with much needed Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
Gallopin came close to victory but has been unlucky to grab the top spot which is the main reason behind his frustration as he posted on the team’s website.
“When there isn’t a victory it is always disappointing the team did such a good job for me, especially Popo”.
“Popo stayed with me until the last 500 meters when some riders attacked and it was time for me to go”.
“I tried to keep the wheel of Moreno when he went and I couldn’t, but third place is not so bad”.
“Tomorrow is the flattest stage of the week so it will be for the super fast sprinters which is not me, but that’s ok because on Friday and Sunday I will have more chances," he concluded.
Tony currently holds the 19th overall position after the stage 3 classifications at the Criterium du Dauphine with a deficit of 12 seconds behind the race leader, Bradley Wiggins.
Cadel Evans is holding the second position with a deficit of 1 second on the race leader with Andriy Grivko of Team Astana, Carlos Barredo and Tony Martin of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep occupied third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
