Team RadioShack-Nissan might make some significant changes at the Tour de France squad
Team RadioShack-Nissan is having a difficult season and despite being one of the most expensive team, it has not justified its performance during the first half of the season.
The only two victories secured by the team came through Fabian Cancellara.
He finished first during the Strade Bianche and also bagged the stage 7 of the Tirreno-Adriatico and helped his side with the much needed victories in the season.
Andy Schleck is undoubtedly the best stage race cyclist in the Luxembourg team after his splendid performances during the past editions of the race.
He finished second during the past three editions of the French Grand Tour and Alberto Contador’s disqualification from the Tour de France 2010 has now awarded Andy with the first place finish at the race.
The 26-year is old is struggling with his form and has not registered a single victory in the season yet.
Team Manager Johan Bruyneel has noted that he will announce the final Giro team after seeing his side’s performance at the Tour of Luxembourg 2012.
"Andy is until today the only one who had already won the Tour and finished second".
"He is the natural leader, but nobody just gets a place in the team. I want to see results in the coming weeks.
"We're going to have to take big risks to win the Tour. It will be a matter of tactical and inventive drive to claim the yellow jersey".
The team was eyeing at Jakob Fuglsang to lead the side at the first Grand Tour race of the season, the Giro d’Italia.
The cyclist’s health conditions restricted him from riding the Italian Grand Tour and Frank Schleck was given the opportunity to test his legs at the event.
Frank rode brilliantly during the race and was looking good for an overall victory at the race before he crashed during the stage 15 of the race.
"I had and still have pain in my shoulder. I know what I feel. I do not have much confidence for the Tour of Luxembourg. But I'm confident that I will be part of the Tour team.", Frank cited.
The cyclist has also shown interest towards riding the Tour de France along with his brother but only time will tell if the Team Manager Johan Bruyneel picks both the Schleck brothers for the 2012 edition of the Tour de France.
