Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank confirmed to have Matti Breschel for the coming season
The news of Matti Breschel moving to Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank for the 2013 season has now been confirmed.
The Danish team announced that the cyclist will represent the team for the coming two seasons.
Matti started his professional crusade with Team CSC in 2005 and stayed with the team by the end of 2010 season.
He accepted an offer from the Dutch outfit, Team Rabobank in 2011 and has now decided to end his associations with the team after spending a period of two-years.
Breschel was recently seen in action at the Vuelta a Burgos where he bagged a stage victory and managed to finish amongst top ten during the Tour of Flanders and the Gent-Wevelgem this year.
The Dane noted that he enjoyed the past two seasons with Team Rabobank and also briefed that signing with Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank was not that difficult decision.
“Personally I have great ambitions, and I'm convinced Bjarne and the team are the right ones to help me move on”.
“Over the last two years I have always kept in contact with Bjarne, and now, when I had the opportunity to come back, I wouldn't miss it”.
“After all, this team is where I feel at home. I'm super happy to be able to return to Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank, and I'm very much looking forward to the coming season".
Breschel had a difficult past two seasons mainly because of the injuries and is optimistic to start the New Year with a fresh start.
He could not secure any victories in 2011 and his only admirable performances in the current season include, a stage 3 win at the Vuelta a Burgos, a third place finish at the Gent-Wevelgem and ninth overall spot at the Tour of Flanders 2012.
"Ever since Matti left the team a couple of years ago, I have always hoped for him to come back to the team for obvious reasons," Team Manager Riis voiced.
It will be interesting to see, if the 28-year-old classics specialist manages to find the right form in the season ahead and meet the expectations of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank management.
