Team Sky announced its final squad for the Vuelta a Burgos, the Eneco Tour and the Clasica San Sebastian 2012
Team Sky is boosting with confidence after marking some historic performance at the most prestigious cycling event of the season, the Tour de France 2012.
Bradley Wiggins became the first British rider in the 109 years history of the French race after his convincing victory at the three-week race.
He took a total time of 87 hours, 34 minutes and 47 seconds and occupied the top podium spot with Christopher Froome, another Team Sky rider finishing at the second spot.
Vincenzo Nibali, Jurgen Van Den Broeck and Tejay van Garderen occupied the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
"I've had 24 hours for this to soak in and today we were just on a mission to finish the job off with Cav," Wiggins noted on the team website.
"So job done and what a way for him to finish it off. I’m still buzzing from the Champs-Elysees”.
"I've got to get used to going into the history books now, but I’m just trying to take everything in today first”.
“It’s very surreal at the moment because this type of things [usually] happens to other people. You never imagine it happening to yourself".
While the two Team Sky riders claimed the top spots at the Tour de France, Mark Cavendish put icing on the cake with his stage victory at the final stage of the race.
Mark also managed the fourth overall position after the point’s classifications with 220 UCI points in his back pocket.
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale grabbed the first spot with 421 points with Andre Greipel and Matthew Harley Goss holding the second and the third spots in the respective order.
Team Sky is optimistic to continue its winning momentum at the coming races of the season and has announced the final squads for the remaining part of the season as below.
