Team USA question?

I am a Detroit Pistons fan and I have a question about Tayshaun Prince. If I am not mistaken, everybody on the team besides Durant and Prince has been on an all-star team. No offence on Prince, but why was he chosen?

I'm not a massive fan of Tayshaun but you have to admit, he's one of the best in the biz when it comes to defense. He'd probably be one of the players that I'd hate to try and score on. He's also quite quick, He's plays SF/PF yet has the versatility of a guard. He can shoot and drive when required. The same goes for Kevin Durant (One of my favourites this season). He played SF in college usually and was put at the SG position for most of his rookie season in Seattle. USA are looking for a few F/G players to play in matchups against players such as Dirk.

In the words of Mike K, the Head Coach, "this team combines role players and stars". Tayshaun Prince fits into the role player category nicely. In the NBA, he'd be considered a minor star, but at the International Games, he is a wonderful role player to fill in. He is everything Team USA needs - team-oriented, focused, lanky defender, and a great all-around game.

because of his intangibles. hes also really long and a good defender. he can score in the post too.

Maybe because, his stats, well, we all know, he can shoot, he can dunk, he can block.

I'm not a big Tayshaun Prince fan either. I suppose it was because of his defense. The team is very offense-focused, and they could use a role player like Prince to step in and be solid on D, and lead to fast breaks where players like LeBron are fantastic. That's the reason I can assume they took him on the team (though, if every top player in the league wanted to play, he probably wouldn't be on).

Prince and Durant where chosen cause other NBA players did no want to play in the Olympics and the USA basketball wanted players that are good on D cause they only got Dwight and Tyson Chandler at the center position and Chandler in injured

Prince offers defensive intensity on a team which already has an abundance of offensive talent.  He also is capable of defending multiple positions from point guards to power forwards
